If you are planning to celebrate your favorite photo by using our photo to canvas service then there is one thing you must learn before even thinking about it – and that’s how to take a photo good enough to be put to canvas.
And rather than bore you with the intricacies of every detail of good photography Lucy Art takes a different approach as our philosophy is to keep photo to canvas art as simple as possible to achieve.
So, instead of looking at the ‘dos’ we are going to look at the ‘do nots’ as you really do not need to be a professional photographer to be able to produce a photo good enough for canvas. Here are the top four mistakes to avoid…
1. Blurring – If the entire shot is out of focus then the problem is camera movement. If a specific part of the photo is blurred it is an object moving in the frame. To avoid this invest in a cheap tripod or lean on a solid object or adjust your shutter speed to a faster setting.
2. Backlighting – Make sure the light is behind you as a lot of the time we won’t think about where the sun or any light source is and if we shoot into it we will get overexposed photos, which will not look good on canvas. Try shooting on slightly overcast days or in the early morning or late afternoon, which will avoid the extremely high contrast between light and shadows of a bright, sunny noon.
3. Incorrect ‘depth of field’ – If parts of your shot look blurry and you want to get it all in then try zooming in or out to get a crisp focus on the subject you want to shoot.
4. White Balance – Do you indoor shots look orange? If they do or your outdoor ones look too blue then you need to read your manual to find out how to set your colour balance. You may find that your camera has preset settings for different lighting so have a play with them to get the best photo to canvas shot.
